Video Civil War - Total War - XA005/03V/04
England, Scotland and Ireland are at total war. Cromwell has a devastating effect on the Royalists and Charles surrenders.
The battle of Marston Moor was a disaster for the Royalists and a great victory for Cromwell. But Charles still controls the west country while Scotland has recently fallen to the King's ally, Montrose. The three kingdoms are descending into total war. At Donnington, just outside Reading, the King's troops steal arms from under the Roundheads noses and Cromwell realises that the Parliamentarian army does not have the courage to see the fight against the King to the end. So he changes the top brass and creates a New Model Army. When Roundheads surprise the King's troops at Naseby, another terrible defeat is marked by the emergence of a new religious fervour. Charles escapes back to Oxford, Montrose is defeated in Scotland and the King starts to fear for his life. In the dead of night he dons a disguise and flees.
