Fifty years ago the sea broke through Britain's sea walls killing 307 people and making 22,000 people homeless. As a result, the sea walls were rebuilt and strengthened. Since then, however, there has been a surprising and radical policy reversal. This film follows the pioneers of a new approach to coastal defence. They are people who believe that the best way to avoid another flooding catastrophe is to knock sea walls down and let the sea back in - and they have government backing.
