Coast

Four series of the BAFTA award winning series reawaken our love for the coast. A team of experts including historians, archaeologists, and geologists explore the surprising and inspiring stories that affect the coastline and its communities. From tourism and fishing to military defence and archaeology, the coastline is embedded with forgotten history, culture and coastline.

Fascinating stories include the search for an elusive octopus, the mysterious objects washed up on the shore which inspired Columbus’s journey to America, a Bronze Age arms race, the secret coastal hideaway of the man who inspired Citizen Kane and the last port of call for The Titanic (and the lucky passenger who had to reluctantly disembark). The team of experts visit unusual locations including island caves only accessible at low tide, filled with jewel like anemones, the little town sitting in the path of a potential tsunami, and the nests of Sea Eagles, perched high on the cliffs. This is the coast as never seen before.
