Early Years Education

early years education

Early years education is concerned with child development, education and childcare. It explores how young children develop and learn, including those identified as gifted or talented, those with special educational needs (SEN) and those who have English as an additional language (EAL).

This subject also examines how psychological enquiry can help us to improve our understanding of the development of young people, including the individual’s development in a social context and the development of cognitive and linguistic understanding. The significance of social contexts and social relationships for human development is explored, focusing on child development in a range of everyday situations – in homes, schools and playgrounds.
