Learning & Curriculum
Learning and Curriculum covers a range of topics including adult learning, literacy, lifelong learning, effective education management and educational research. Current debates in the rapidly changing field of language and literacy and the relevance of research and scholarship to educational policy and practice are explored, with an international focus and an emphasis on social perspectives.
Key issues and debates relating to lifelong learning include what is meant by ‘learning’ when we talk about ‘lifelong learning’, what possibilities does supporting lifelong learning suggest for the organisation of workplaces, communities, colleges and homes, and why has lifelong learning become such a key idea in policy responses to change and globalisation?
A survey of current thinking on educational leadership and management covers important themes such as the nature of educational leadership and management; issues of values, ethics and educational purposes; the influence of changing external and internal contextual factors on educational organisations; accountability, evaluation and effectiveness; and strategic leadership and management of change.
Educational enquiry explores the nature of educational research, and some of the practical strategies and skills involved in both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The materials address key methodological issues, the range of approaches currently to be found within educational research, and the arguments surrounding these.
